How to plan a goal in 7 steps

Hi guys, welcome to Clever Shakes, this is Sara and today we are going to talk about how to set a goal in just 7 steps.

In times of quarantine it is a time of great uncertainty and anguish, where we do not know how to face this crisis in a positive and resilient way. According to the laws of which the universe is composed, mentioned in the book The Kybalion, there is the law of Polarity, it has to do with the fact that every existing object in the universe has a positive and a negative side that complement each other to reach a balance. For this reason, in a situation such as the Coronavirus pandemic, we can also take a positive side and take advantage of it.

The benefit that we can get from this world crisis situation is to stay at home all the time and use our free time to rethink our lives or create new purposes and goals to fulfill our dreams or improve ourselves. By having purposes and goals in our life, this increases our level of self-esteem and self-assurance that we can and are useful enough to reach and everything we always long for.

So for this week at Clever Shakes, we created a list of 7 steps on how to set a goal in an easy and concise way, that if you apply it in the best way you can achieve it successfully. This list was based on the book Control your time, control your life by Brian Tracy.

Formula to set and achieve goals

  1. Think about that goal you want to achieve, decide exactly what you want. When you decide exactly what you want, organize the idea in a 100% clear way, so clear that even a 7-year-old child can understand it and tell it to another child of the same age and this child can understand it in the same way that was explained by you. That is, it does not generate a broken phone effect.

  1. Write this goal in a notebook or a sheet of paper, I recommend you do everything in one notebook to file it and have an order. When you write an idea, goal or anything, the brain captures all this information in the subconscious and in this way you can remember it and you also start to think with that idea or information. Your brain will begin to look for the way to digest information with this new information or to shape new realities to see it as reality on the physical plane.

  1. Now it is time to set a deadline for this goal, for something to become tangible you must create a plan to make it happen. When establishing a deadline for that goal or wish that you want to become reality, you must place it in a time and space. Set a realistic time for this goal, looking at your skills and resources to make it happen.

  • Break this time period into shorter ones to receive small rewards for your effort and at the same time you can measure it and see it closer to your reality every day. If your goal is for one year, you must break it down into months, weeks and finally days. You have short periods of time, for example if it is in a year, it begins for periods of 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, 2 weeks, one week and finally days.

  • If the plans change, since it is normal, there are inconvenient surprises, or as they call it, stones on the way, extend that period to achieve your goal but never give up on it.

  1. It is time to develop the plan to reach your goal. Make a list of those resources and activities you need to achieve the purpose you have in mind. This list should be organized with a hierarchy of relevance from more elementary and important activities to less important activities. These most important activities are those that you can do by yourself that are at your fingertips, the least important ones that you can assign to another person to do it or require control from another person. Start with the basics.

  1. Apply the 80/20 rule or also known as the pareto rule, it consists of doing in 20% of a given time the most important activities to perform a task, maximum two tasks, in the remaining 80% the result of this will be reflected twenty%. Also in that remaining 80% you can do complementary or remaining activities to carry out this task. This rule will be applied when we begin to develop the plan that we created to achieve our goal since this rule helps us to be more productive and feel more comfortable with these tasks that we have been carrying out.

  1. Take action. This is the most important step, starting your path to that desired goal. This is the step that requires more effort and requires more courage to carry it out because humans tend to be very perfectionist with our actions and feel frustrated if we do not do it exactly to our expectations. Always remember at the beginning everything becomes a little difficult and not with the best results but with perseverance, perseverance and a lot of love we can start to have better results thanks to practice, "practice makes perfect".

  1. This last step is to combine all the steps in this formula. We already have our clear, written goal, a defined and broken time frame, plus a list of resources and activities to achieve it. Now it is time to organize all these activities in the broken down period of time. Try to turn these activities into habits that you can develop on a daily basis, even if it is only 10 minutes or 5 minutes invested each day. Because if you turn them into habits they become part of your routine and even of yourself.

You can download the following templates to develop your goal and make it come true. Remember, everything is possible if you clarify your ideas and develop a plan for them, always with a positive and persevering attitude.
